Today on the show we had Michelle Tokarczyk and Tom Conway. Our first guest, Tokarczyk, is an English professor at Goucher College, she is also a writing director at Goucher. Along with that, she is an author and a poet, with topics focusing on women and working class studies. While on the show, she discusses her writings and the inspiration behind them, recessions, working class decimation, teachers organizing, and textbook costs and university tuition. Our second guest on the show was Tom Conway from the United Steel Workers. Conway goes immediately into talking about how the steel workers are ready to go on strike, the steel industry’s success and how they are not giving anything to the workers, how some of the worker protections were taken away, deductible healthcare plans, and finally how they are hoping to solve their problems during contract renegotiation. Other things that we discussed today were the Brett Kavanaugh controversy, a labor podcast called “Women Rule”, and shared prosperity.
