January Edition of the American Legion Discussed on America’s Work Force
Mark Seavey, editor for the American Legion Magazine spoke with America’s Work Force on Jan. 17 to discuss the newest edition of the publication.
Seavey spoke about the key stories that will be featured in the January edition of the American Legion. The first story involved how much support the United States gives to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The second story that Seavey spoke about was on the late Lt. Col. Joseph H. Ward, who served in the U.S. army and was a doctor, surgeon and soldier. Lastly, he spoke about the American Legion’s Burn Pit, and some stories that were posted there.
Rich Fiesta, executive director of the Alliance for Retired Americans spoke about the proposed change for Social Security. The changes that he discussed were for disabled recipients, and examined the eligibility review process. Fiesta also talked about the cost of pharmaceutical drugs going up and how it affects senior citizens and their medications.
AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc spoke about the Cleveland Public Library and their dispute with the Service Employees Union.

The 75th Anniversary of D-Day was Remembered on America’s Work Force
Mark Seavey, editor and blogger with the American Legion Magazine spoke with America’s Work Force on May 17 to speak about the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Seavey spoke about the June edition of the American Legion magazine, and the articles that are featured inside of it. He spoke about an article describing events that went down on D-Day, such as how much of a struggle soldiers were having landing on target due to extreme winds that day. Seavey also talked about how bravely the United States fought that day, given the weather conditions and the German’s not being ignorant to U.S. plans to attack that day. He then went on to talk about the very first G.I. Bill and the positive impacts that it had on soldiers when it was first created and where it is now.

He also talked about strengthening social security and healthcare. Lastly, Fiesta spoke about a social security scam where scammers are contacting social security recipients disguised as social security representatives. During this scam, scammers will tell the victims that their accounts have been compromised and ask for their social security number so they can fix their problem and then will steal their information after they are provided with the social number.

Expanding and Strengthening Social Security Discussed on America’s Work Force
Richard Fiesta, executive director of the Alliance for Retired Americans spoke with America’s Work Force on Friday, April 19 about strengthening social security.
Fiesta began his time on AWF by explaining how the United States does not offer paid maternity leave like other countries do. A conservative bill has recently been brought up, which will use funds from one’s social security benefits to pay for their maternity leave. Fiesta then explained why the most recent GOP tax cut is hurting social security and what legislatures should do to strengthen it.
Mark Seavey from the American Legion magazine also spoke with AWF on April 19. Seavey talked about the Boston Marathon and how veterans ran it in honor of their injured or fallen brothers. He also talked about a “tough ruck” where veterans would carry their gear for 26.2 miles as a fundraiser for their fellow soldiers. This year, according to Seavey, over $860,000 was raised during the tough ruck. He also discussed the May edition of the publication and the 100 year celebration of the American Legion.
