Sen. Brown: Major legislation likely to pass by Thanksgiving

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the likelihood of Congress passing two major bills by Thanksgiving. Brown acknowledged the process can be maddening, but he is confident both the infrastructure bill and the budget reconciliation bill will successfully reach President Biden’s desk by the end of the month.

Both bills will create millions of jobs, he said. The budget reconciliation bill currently includes the enhanced child tax credit, which he called the biggest tax cut for working families in the nation’s history. The current version of the bill will also dramatically lower the price on prescription drugs by allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription prices.

Besides talking about legislation, Brown also talked about a recent meeting he had with U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh and the need to increase the pay of home healthcare workers.

Brown also discussed the economic damage caused by U.S. manufacturing jobs being outsourced to China.
