Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga discussed the records on labor and workers rights of President Trump and Joe Biden on America’s Work Force Union Podcast. In his opinion, President Trump has left workers out to dry.
Broken promises from the White House
Burga first analyzed the promises made to workers by President Trump and the promises broken during his first term in office.
Burga began rattling off all of the ways President Trump has completely abandoned workers. He said the lack of safety standard enforcement, loss of manufacturing jobs, allowing jobs to be outsourced and not continuing the fight for improved workers rights has led him to believe another four years of President Trump could prove disastrous for workers.
Burga recalled the 2016 campaign trail when President Trump traveled the country making promises in historic mining and manufacturing towns that jobs would return. He expressed the frustration shared by many in the labor community as these jobs have not returned.
Burga understands that many union brothers and sisters voted for Donald Trump in 2016. He said he hopes they will focus on their paycheck and union and understand that it is Joe Biden who has their best interests in mind.
Biden and Trump on the issues
Burga compared the records of the two presidential candidates and how they have helped workers during their time in office. He said that Joe Biden has done more to help workers while President Trump has fallen behind, leaving a trail of broken promises.
Lastly, Burga advised AWF listeners who plan to submit their ballot through the United States Postal Service to mail their ballot or drop it off at the post office as soon as possible. With all of the conflicting reports about whether the USPS will be able to handle the influx of election mail, Burga said the earlier you can get your ballot sent the better.
