National Writers Union official discusses strategies to rebuild the middle class

Some in the labor movement believe certain economic systems to be the roadblock hindering the middle class from achieving economic success and in some cases destroying the middle class.

National Writers Union Recording Secretary Dan McCrory joined America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss how the middle class can rebuild itself, what is next for labor unions and more.

The Powell Memorandum

McCrory began by discussing the Powell Memo. This memorandum was penned by Lewis Powell who sat on the boards of 11 corporations and it was sent to then U.S. Chamber of Commerce Director Eugene Sydnor Jr.

Powell was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court two months after sending the memo.

The memo laid the framework for the Heritage Foundation and other corporation-friendly groups that sought to change the opinions and attitudes about America’s corporations.

Rebuilding the middle class

McCrory also talked about how to rebuild the middle class. The wealth disparity in the U.S. has grown exponentially and the middle class has rapidly disappeared.

Lastly, McCrory spoke about two of the books he authored.
