After four years of having a National Labor Relations Board side with employers over workers, Joe Biden must make the board more labor-friendly
Labor Lawyer Joyce Goldstein, of Goldstein Gragel, LLC discussed the current anti-worker National Labor Relation Board (NLRB), the damage they have done to workers and how the Biden administration will work to make it more labor-friendly on America’s Work Force Union Podcast.
Changes on the NLRB
The NLRB is made up of five members. It is typically filled by three members of the president’s party and two members of the minority. The Trump administration did not fill the second seat reserved for a Democrat, creating an egregiously anti-worker board.
During President Trump’s term, Goldstein said the NLRB made quick work to hinder the labor movement.
The Chamber of Commerce handed NLRB General Counsel Peter Robb a corporate wishlist, which he honored. The NLRB rammed five rule changes during the Trump administration, an unprecedented amount. Goldstein said these changes all negatively impacted unions and workers.
Under a Biden administration, Goldstein said there is work to be done at the NLRB. However, she remains confident that the board will get back to working for the betterment of the working class.
