Joyce Goldstein of Goldstein Gragel, LLC spoke with America’s Work Force Radio Podcast on July 10 about the National Labor Relations Board.
Goldstein first gave a history of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and how it was established with the New Deal. She explained how the NLRB was created to help workers organize and collectively bargain for improved conditions and benefits.
She said there are five members on the board at a time. Republicans currently hold a three-seat advantage. Goldstein highlighted why this can be dangerous for workers, as Republicans tend to favor employers. She then spoke about her frustrations with the Republican members of the board as they revise old decisions involving unions, undoing efforts to empower workers.
Lastly, She spoke about the NLRB abandoning the blocking charge rule, designed to prevent employers from interfering with an organizing campaign. The rule prevented employers from restricting union communication and access to property for organizers.
Jim Cullen, Editor of the Progressive Populist discussed President Trump’s frequent dog whistles. He noted the hostility the President has shown towards the Black Lives Matter movement and those in favor of it.
AWF Radio Podcast host Ed “Flash” Ferenc spoke about the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades celebrating the passing of the INVEST in America Act, a House infrastructure bill.
