Nicky Snazell, an international presenter and instructor on health, well-being and pain relief and author of a series of books spoke with America’s Work Force on April 3 about staying healthy during a time when stress levels are increased.
Snazell offered listeners tips on staying healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic as people face high levels of stress. Because of the pandemic, people are looking for ways to boost their immune system. Snazell said one way to boost your immune system is to practice deep breathing and meditate when possible. Stress weakens your immune system, leaving you more susceptible to illness, so she recommends meditation and deep breathing to reduce stress levels. Another way to stay healthy is to eat less processed foods and not overeat.
Snazell then spoke about the importance of taking vitamins to keep your body healthy. When people are stressed, they burn up vitamins and minerals faster. She said that people should increase their vitamin intake unless they are on a prescription medication, then they would need to consult a doctor first. Lastly, Snazell recommends that people exercise when they can to keep their bodies healthy. As people exercise more often, they build a stronger immune system.
Dorsey Hager, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council spoke about construction workers still working on their current projects. He said that his affiliated members still show up and work since they are deemed essential workers. Hager said that they are practicing distancing from their coworkers as best as they can to prevent the risk of catching or spreading the virus. He also spoke about why it is so important to put money into training programs. He said these programs ensure that the people who go through them come out thoroughly trained and are able to take on any job to the best of their ability.
AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc provided updates on the COVID-19 virus and said that all Americans are able to receive a COVID-19 test for free.
