Investing in infrastructure will create jobs and opportunities for thousands of workers

Senior Vice President of Advocacy for the American Council of Engineering Companies Steve Hall joined the AWF Union Podcast on April 19 to discuss how a good infrastructure plan would help create thousands of jobs for workers across the country when it is desperately needed.

Long-term investments for infrastructure

There is no question that infrastructure is a nationwide issue. There is failing infrastructure across the country that is in desperate need of repair or replacement, but how can this be achieved? Hall stated that a good infrastructure bill will put us back on the right track.

He said that the engineering industry is looking forward to a big infrastructure plan because they want to work on as big of projects as possible to get people back to work and the economy back up and running.

Infrastructure plan to benefit big projects

The infrastructure plan that was presented to Congress is the American Jobs Plan which focuses on infrastructure and getting workers back to work.

Although there is a plan for infrastructure that was presented, there still isn’t an agreed upon method of where the money will come from to fund the plan. He said that there has been mention of a gas tax and other traveler taxes that would be the most equitable way of funding the package.

Hall concluded by saying that it is going to take a collective effort by all people involved to get the American Jobs Plan passed and implemented to get workers across the country back to work.
