On the July 20 episode of America’s Work Force Radio Podcast, Scott Paul with the Alliance for American Manufacturing discussed purchasing American made products.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused construction work to slow down or be stopped altogether. Paul said we need to rebuild America by reauthorizing our infrastructure programs to repair and maintain bridges, highways and waterways across America.
Paul added that not only will desperately needed repairs be made to infrastructure, but thousands of people will be put back to work, helping to boost the economy.
Paul transitioned his topic to how America should invest in renewable energy. While Paul called for investment in renewable energy, he stressed the importance of purchasing American made for construction and manufacturing so we can boost our economy while putting American workers to work.
Lastly, Paul talked about the movie “Working Man” and the importance of the movie industry portraying working people in a positive way, while celebrating American manufacturing.
Cleveland’s longest-serving Councilman, Mike Polensek, talked about keeping jobs in the United States. With the pandemic negatively impacting the U.S. economy, Polensek stressed that when the economy fully reopens we need to keep jobs onshore.
He continued by saying too many companies are taking advantage of offshoring to cut back on taxes and it is affecting U.S. workers. Polensek said there needs to be tighter regulations on offshoring companies in order to keep jobs in America and keep our economy strong.
Polensek also discussed the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on front line workers.
