John Bell III, representative for the Veterans Administration’s Home Loan Program spoke with America’s Work Force on Jan. 8 about their benefits program for veterans.
Bell spoke about the VA home loan program and how it helps house veterans. The program allows veterans to purchase a house without needing a down payment, credit, or mortgage premiums. Bell said that with how tight restrictions on lending requirements have been getting, the VA loan is a life saver to these veterans who would not have been able to qualify for a loan elsewhere. He said this program will help make sure that these veterans and their families are properly taken care of when they begin to look for housing.
AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc discussed game developers fighting to unionize. Certain video game production teams had been working upwards of 100 hour work weeks, most of the time with no extra pay or time off, to meet unrealistic due dates, also known as a “crunch.” He said that these developers are also facing rolling layoffs, which means workers are being laid off to fit a cyclical production schedule to get fresh developers on the job, rather than the workers from previous games worn out from their absurd hours.
