Jeff Stoffer, Director of Media and Communications with the American Legion spoke with America’s Work Force on April 17 to discuss helping veterans during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stoffer spoke about what members of the American Legion are doing to help veterans out during the COVID-19 pandemic. With everything being shut down, things are incredibly difficult for veterans with disabilities or who need assistance getting necessary resources. Knowing that older people are at a higher risk of catching the virus, older veterans need someone to do essential shopping for them. He then discussed an instance where a veteran home had an outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, leaving 28 residents dead. Lastly, Stoffer honored the centennial of the American Legion publication.
Rich Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans spoke about voting by mail in the upcoming election. With the dangers of COVID-19, at-risk populations need to understand that there are alternatives that will allow them to safely vote. Fiesta explained the process a person must go through in order to be eligible to submit a ballot through the mail. Finally, he explained why Trump ending the payroll tax is a major mistake.
AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc spoke about the updated joblessness numbers due to the COVID-19 virus.
