Dr. Ricordi discusses ongoing stem cell research

Dr. Camillo Ricordi of the Diabetes Research Institute talked about stem cell research in curing diabetes as well as potentially curing COVID-19 and protecting yourself from other epidemics on the Sept. 10 episode of America’s Work Force Union Podcast.

Dr. Ricordi is associated with the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami. The institute is backed by North America’s Building Trades Unions.

Dr. Ricordi started by teasing a major paper about stem cell research as it relates to diabetes as well as COVID-19.

Although the paper is not yet published, Dr Ricordi said the paper surrounds research where umbilical cords were used to provide the stem cells. He said the research led them to a potential COVID-19 remedy.

He then talked about the surge of epidemics and how they come to be. From obesity to auto-immune diseases, Dr. Ricordi said these epidemics can be traced back to habits. He recommend these can be prevented by eating right and staying active, washing your hands and taking medicine when it is said to be beneficial.
