States like South Carolina have decimated their education budgets in the name of attracting corporations to the state. Many are finding that plan has backfired, as the local workforce is not equipped for the jobs created.
America’s Work Force Union Podcast independent labor voice Tom Buffenbarger discussed why some states are losing their ability to develop an educated workforce, the removal of unemployment benefits and more.
Politics in Washington D.C.
Buffenbarger said it is a good thing Joe Biden was elected president. However, there are still dangerous figures in Washington D.C. and pointed to Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebart, who represent what the former president stood for, but could be worse.
These Representatives have launched Holocaust minimizing campaigns by comparing being required to show a vaccination card for private events and school to Jewish people being forced to wear a Star of David.
Additionally, Buffenbarger blasted Republicans for attempting to gloss over the Jan. 6 insurrection. Their unwillingness to investigate in any capacity is contradictory to the actions of past Congressional Republicans.
Boeing robs South Carolina schools out of millions
Buffebarger later explained how South Carolina school districts managed to lose $423 million in abated revenues to corporations. He said the entire plan was set up by former Governor Nikki Haley, who managed to weaken public schools while also giving Boeing a handout.
Boeing sought refuge from states who made it easy to organize a union and instead opted for South Carolina after being offered the abatements. However, Boeing is now struggling to find an educated workforce in the state.
Buffenbarger added that Boeing now pays next to nothing in federal and state tax.
