Wayfair Employee Walkout Discussed on America’s Work Force

Bill Samuel, government affairs director with the AFL-CIO spoke with America’s Work Force on June 27 about Wayfair employees staging a walkout after finding out about who their company was profiting off of.

Bill Samuel AFL-CIOSamuel discussed the Wayfair employees in Boston staging a walkout after one of their employees found out that the company was selling bed furnishing to the detention camps along the border. Once the employees made the discovery, they staged a walkout in protest that they do not approve of the detention centers or their company doing being involved and doing business to help these centers. Samuel then talked about the new NAFTA agreement, the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement, and how it is unacceptable in its current condition and needs to be improved before being voted in.

Marcia ArgustMarcia Argust, director of the PEW Charitable Trust to Restore America’s Parks spoke with AWF on June 27 about repairing and maintaining infrastructure at U.S. National Parks. With congress funding slowing down and visitor numbers going up, there is only so much that could be done to maintain the old infrastructure at these national parks or repair something that may be broken. She said that the old infrastructure poses as a health and safety concern for visitors of these parks and is working to get the funding necessary to improve conditions at these parks.
