Author and contributing writer to the American Legion Suzanne Gordon talked veteran health care on the Nov. 23 edition of America’s Work Force Radio.
Gordon discussed the origins and evolution of veteran healthcare. Initially, healthcare services were provided to all veterans with service-related injuries, but changes to services opened healthcare to veterans who were honorably discharged and have low income or have a disability from their service. She warned against privatizing the Veteran’s Administration and the effects it would have on the workers and the veterans.
United Steelworkers President Leo Gerard joined America’s Work Force Radio and discussed the USW contract renegotiations, on which his members will soon vote. As a result of the negotiations, members will receive wage increases, but not have to pay for an increase in the health insurance premiums. Gerard spoke about tariffs and trade problems between the U.S. and China, and the midterm election results.
AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc talked about Suzanne Gordon’s book Wounds of War, and her article that she co-wrote, A System worth Saving.
