Anti-Union Business Owner Discussed on America’s Work Force

Kris LaGrange, host of UCOMM Live podcast joined America’s Work Force on August 19 to talk about an anti-union sports entertainment business owner.

Kris LaGrange UCOMM BlogLaGrange spoke about Dave Portnoy, head of Barstool Sports, a sports and pop culture blog and entertainment outlet who had recently made a slew of anti-union comments after a pro-labor lawyer contacted his writing staff about forming a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Portnoy responded to the news of his staff being contacted by saying he hopes they try to form a union so he can crush it and anyone who reaches back out to this lawyer will be fired from Barstool Sports. Portnoy’s anti-labor comments drew the attention of lawyers and government officials alike.

LaGrange also talked about a man who was aggressively beaten for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and how people who opposed President Trump should not condone or partake in this activity just because they have a different political view. Lastly, he talked about President Trump’s rhetoric and how it is inciting violence, even if he is not directly calling for it, people still interpret what he says as a means to act violently on certain groups of people.

State Representative Tom PattonOhio State Representative, Tom Patton (D-OH) spoke with AWF on August 19 about Ohio’s state budget, which was passed earlier in the month. He said that because of the state budget, income tax for those earning $20,000 or less a year were eliminated and income tax on others was reduced down to four percent. Patton also discussed the possibility of sports betting becoming legal in Ohio. Lastly, he talked about energy bills in Ohio and which type of power is most efficient for the taxes being paid on it.

Rep. Patton Talks Legislative Priorities on America’s Work Force Radio

Ohio State Rep. Tom Patton talked about setting priorities for the incoming Ohio legislature on America’s Work Force.

State Representative Tom PattonRep. Patton, on Dec. 17, spoke about the need to mandate upgraded job training in the construction industry to ensure proper worker safety and a high quality of work. He felt additional training will benefit everyone, from new to experienced workers, to contractors, project owners and end users because of the amount of new and updated technology used in construction. Rep. Patton also talked about the need to recruit more people into the construction industry. He said it is a better post-high school option than college for some people.

DriversEd Laura AdamsLaura Adams from driversed.com appeared on America’s Work Force Radio and talked about the importance of motorists to practice defensive driving.  Drivers should use defensive driving skills due to the increase in accidents during the holidays from intoxicated drivers and potentially hazardous road conditions. She recommended motorists get regular check-up before the winter weather gets too bad to in order to prevent breakdowns on the road during extreme conditions.

AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc discussed the recent Affordable Care Act ruling in Texas, where a judge ruled the legislation “unconstitutional.” Due to this ruling, the entire healthcare law is now under question. He also talked about the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement and the United Auto Workers willingness to work with President Trump and Congress to fix certain parts of the trade pact.
