The results of the midterm elections remain a major talking point on America’s Work Force Radio.
UAW Legislative Director Josh Nassar discussed the outcome of the 2018 midterm elections. He talked about issues raised after unofficial results were released on Election Night, such as gerrymandering and voter suppression in some states, which Nassar argued impacted the outcome of certain races. Nassar also shared his thoughts on the United States Mexico Canada Agreement, also known as the USMCA. This trade agreement, if passed by Congress, replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement or NAFTA.
Founding Executive Director of Policy Matters Ohio, Amy Hanauer, was a featured guest on America’s Work Force and also spoke about the results of the midterm election. She explained why she believed Issue 1 should have passed in Ohio. Hanauer said polling on Issue 1 mislead voters, which lead to its defeat. She said Ohioans should keep their minds open about another options and discussed a similar plan used in Oklahoma.
Show host Ed “Flash” Ferenc provided more insight on the election results, including how the election of union members to public office will lead to more rights for working people.
