A Toast to New Tomorrows on America’s Work Force.

On today’s show we had Grace Heffernan, project manager for Towards Employment, and Mike Polensek, a councilman from the Cleveland City Council. Our first guest Heffernan discussed what Towards Employment is all about, TalentNEO, helping the formerly incarcerated get back into the workforce, help individuals prepare, obtain, maintain, and advance in a job so that they are able to support themselves and their families. Heffernan also talks about employers looking to fill jobs based on their skills rather than strictly based on their past education, their organization’s job readiness training in-house, and her fundraiser called “A Toast to New Tomorrows” which promotes opportunities toward employment. Our second guest Mike Polensek talks about high speed chases and new ways on how to end them safely. He also discusses Cleveland’s policy on joining and trying to stop a high speed pursuit, and the problem one home owner has encountered over the last couple of years regarding these dangerous high speed chases. Other topics that we discussed were pay differentials between men and women, how earnings are falling for men and the wage gap is still large, climate change conflict, justice for working people, gun rights, school vouchers, and the new controversy regarding sexual assault surrounding Brett Kavanaugh. We covered a lot of information on the show today and had some great discussion about serious matters!
