Fear Mongering and Border Security Main Topics of Discussion on America’s Work Force

During the Jan. 9 edition of America’s Work Force, guest Dr. Jill Stein from the Green Party spoke about fear mongering and President Trump’s push for increased border security.

Stein discussed how President Trump is attempting to use fear mongering as an attempt to gain support on his decision for building a wall to increase border security between Mexico and the United States. Stein went into a discussion about how dangerous it is for the President to use fear mongering as a tactic and speaking lies on certain topics in hopes that he is able to get what he wants out of it. Stein talked about how President Trump claims that a wall will help prevent illegal drugs from entering the United States when a lot of illegal drugs are smuggled in cars using the actual points of entry into the U.S. She also talked about the ongoing partial government shutdown and how it is drastically affecting government employees who need their paychecks to be able to survive.

Tom Germuska, Jr. with The Labor Citizen was the second guest on the Jan. 9 edition of AWF. Germuska discussed the outlook on construction in Ohio. Germuska discussed how, on a national level, commercial construction could potentially slow down in 2019, but non-residential buildings and other infrastructure construction will be increasing. In 2017, fatal workplace injuries dropped 1 percent, reported Germuska.

Stagnant Wages were a Hot Topic of Discussion on America’s Work Force.

On our show today we had Dr. Jill Stein with the Green Party, and Matt Jaworski with the Labor Citizen. While on the show, Dr. Jill Stein spoke about our economy, the major problem of wages being stagnant while cost of living, higher education, healthcare and many other things are becoming more expensive and unaffordable, union representation going down, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Green Uprising, and ranked choice voting. Our second guest Matt Jaworski discusses Matt DeWine, Dennis Duffy and ACT Ohio, educating people and promoting the trades, the building trades rally that was in Euclid, the peaceful protests held at the groundbreaking, and monitoring prevailing wage on the upcoming project. We also talk about the percentage of U.S. workers who are living paycheck to paycheck, the percent of people who do not set aside savings each month, the percent of people classified poor or low income, anti-union movements, and recent union victories!
