Mark Seavey, assistant director at the American Legion, spoke with America’s Work Force on July 19 about the side effects of an anti-malaria drug.
Seavey, who had previously served in the United States military, spoke about the side effects soldiers may have, if given a drug to prevent contracting malaria. He said that the drug is called mefloquine and many soldiers were suffering major side effects from the drug. Seavey told a story about his battle buddy in the military, who after taking mefloquine, did not sleep for four days and was suffering from hyperactivity. He also told stories about other soldiers who suffered some major side effects after taking the anti-malaria drug. Lastly, Seavey talked about American Legion baseball and the various professional baseball players who played in the Legion league.
Rich Fiesta, executive director at the Alliance of Retired Americans spoke with AWF on July 19 about a minimum wage increase over a span of the next few years, increasing from $7.25 to $15.00 an hour. He also talked about how the minimum wage increase will be able to help people’s social security. Finally, Fiesta talked about pensions and House Resolution 397.
