Self-Sufficiency Through Employment Discussed on America’s Work Force

Bishara Addison, senior manager of policy and strategic initiatives of Towards Employment Ohio spoke with America’s Work Force on Sept. 16 about individuals finding self-sufficiency through employment.

Towards EmploymentAddison explained the mission of Towards Employment Ohio and how they work to help individuals find self-sufficiency through employment. She talked about how her organization helps people learn the skills and gain the necessary tools in order to find and maintain a career. Addison’s organization will assist anybody looking to better themselves in order to build a successful career and become self-sufficient. She mentioned that they will help guide former-felons down the path to re-entry into the workforce because everyone deserves a fair shot at a sustainable career. Addison lastly talked about an annual event, Get in the Game, which is a celebration and fundraiser for the participating businesses involved with Towards Employment Ohio.

Mike PolensekCleveland City Councilman, Mike Polensek spoke with AWF on Sept. 16 about the possibility of Sherwin Williams leaving its current global headquarters in Cleveland. Polensek said that Sherwin Williams may be looking to move out of Cleveland in order to expand their company. He also talked about Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and the call for a more thorough investigation into crimes his grandson allegedly committed. Polensek talked about how there was a demand for an external investigation of the crimes Mayor Jackson’s grandson allegedly committed because people feel like he received biased treatment and a lesser punishment because of his grandfather, Mayor Jackson

AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc spoke about United Auto Worker members at General Motors going on strike. He said that upwards of 49,000 employees in GM factories across the country went on strike after their contract expired over the weekend.
