Andrew Tinkham, outreach and education specialist with the Ohio Consumers Counsel spoke with America’s Work Force on Jan. 13 to discuss unwanted, automatic calls being received.
Tinkham talked about the increased amount of robocalls being received by Ohio residents and steps to take to stop it from continuing. He said that a person can sign up, for free, to be put on the “Do Not Call” list and with that, it would make it illegal for robocalls, and telemarketers to reach a person on their home, or cell phone. Tinkham also talked about a tax refund and a reduction on consumers natural gas bills where they will be credited five dollars back to their accounts. He also discussed the Medical certification waiver.
Terry O’Sullivan, president of the Laborers International Union of North America spoke about the Cadillac tax and pension reform. He explained the changes that have been made to coal miner pensions and what needs to be done to fix the multi-employer pension plan. O’Sullivan also gave an overview on the National Environmental Policy Act and how it will deal with infrastructure and energy resources. Lastly, he talked about the gas tax and how it will help with infrastructure repairs and updates.
AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc talked about the alarming number of children who did not have health insurance during the year 2018.
