Kline discussed janitors in Ohio victory and receiving a wage increase. Janitors with Service Employees International Union (SEUI) Local 1 had a historic victory where workers ratified a new contract that would lay the groundwork to pave the way to $15 hourly wages. She also talked about the spring celebration for Cleveland Jobs With Justice which will recognize activists who have pushed for change and Jobs With Justice victories over the last year.
Pat Gallagher, sub-district director of United Steelworkers District 1 spoke with AWF about the USW’s contract renewal with the Jack Casino. He talked about how the first contract they had signed with the Jack Casino will end on June 19, so they are beginning negotiations for a new contract. Gallagher also discussed the steel and aluminum tariffs on China have created nearly 12,000 jobs in the United States.
Kris LaGrange, host of the UCOMM Blog, also spoke with AWF on May 16. LaGrange discussed Delta airlines posting anti-union posters, telling workers they are better off spending their hard earned money on gaming consoles rather than union dues. He also talked about FaceBook content reviewers and how high the turnover for that job is.
