President Trump holding out on ending the government shutdown until his demands of funding the border wall are met was a main topic of discussion on the Jan. 11 edition of America’s Work Force.
Jim Cullen, editor for the Progressive Populist discussed the ongoing government shutdown and how it is hurting federal and contract workers. Cullen described the situation as President Trump holding the federal and contract workers hostage until his demands are met. By not ending the government shutdown, President Trump is causing nearly 800,000 government employees to miss out on their first paycheck since Dec. 22. He also talked about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez proposal of increasing the top tax rate to 70 percent as well as her ideas for the Green New Deal.
Mary Jane Trapp discussed when a court can modify court costs, referencing State v. Braden, during her Jan. 11 appearance on AWF. She also discussed the two new Ohio justices, Mike Donnelly and Melanie Stewart, and their backgrounds leading up to where they are now.
