Today’s Show 9-6-18

Today on the show we had Darryll Bell and Steve Campisi, stewards and political coordinators of Local 31 in the studio with us, and also Senator Sherrod Brown. While on the show, Darryll and Steve talked about the American Federation of Government Employees, working with the Cleveland VA Medical Center, the VA accountability act, being Air Force Veterans, veteran homelessness, the three executive orders that sought to undermine the representation of unions with their employees, and Federal employee wage raises. Senator Sherrod Brown discussed jobs in Ohio, American Jobs Act and keeping automotive production in the United States, NAFTA negotiations, labor enforcement, and the Firefighter Registry Cancer Act.  We also discuss the op-ed article submitted to the New York Times by a member of the White House Administration about President Trump and how he demands that he either come forward or be turned over by the NYT! Hot topics of discussion from the last couple of weeks and more unique, insightful views to go along with them!

Today’s Show 9-5-18

On today’s show we have Lisa Graves with the Center for Media and Democracy, and Dave Megenhardt, Executive Director of the United Labor Agency (ULA). While on the show today, we had a lengthy conversation with Lisa Graves about her project, Documented Investigations, and the Koch’s 60 year anti-union efforts. She tells about the history of Fred Koch and how he worked with the Germans in the 30’s and the Russians after that, and how Charles and David took up after their father and followed in his footsteps. Our second guest was Dave Megenhardt with the ULA. During Dave’s time on the show, he talks about Playhouse Square’s upcoming play called “Sweat”, which talks about unions and jobs going overseas. Dave also mentions voter registration events and pledge cards being send out to remind people to exercise their rights to vote during the primaries. We also talked about Brett Kavanaugh and his labor record, North Carolina’s Congressional Districts, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee for a position, and workers talking about unionizing while at work. On today’s show, we had Tim Burga with the AFL-CIO, and Lori Wallach, Director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch and 25 year veteran of congressional trade battles. While our first guest, Tim Burga, was on the show, we talked a lot about politics with Trumka vs Trump, CoinGate scandal, tax payer money, ECOT scandal, Richard Cordray and Mike Dewine, Right-to-Work and prevailing wage, and the Senate race. Our second guest, the incredibly qualified Lori Wallach talks about the NAFTA renegotiation, effects of trade, outsourced jobs due to NAFTA, raising wages in Mexico, try to remove the incentives in NAFTA to outsource, pro-trade model cons, whether Canada will join in on the agreements, and finding out at the end of September whether or not the new negotiations will actually make a difference. We also talk more about Trump vs Trumka, no raises for federal workers, midterm elections, and the 42,000 documents that were released looking into Brett Kavanaugh.

Labor Day Show 9-3-18

Happy Labor day to all! On today’s show, we have guests Mark Gruenberg, editor for Press Associates Union News Service, and Sue McConnell with the Better Business Bureau. Our first guest on the show, Mark Gruenberg, talks about the race in Missouri on organized labor, progressive, pro-worker, women running in the primaries, Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s meetings with several labor leaders, Leo Gerard and his writings about President Trump, postal workers convention on privatizing the postal service, as well as postal banking and savings accounts and what happened to them. With her limited, yet informative time on the show today, Sue McConnell talked about three fraudulent job offers to be aware of, saving you some time, your money and possibly keeping your identity from being stolen stolen. On today’s show we had former United States Attorney, Steve Dettlebach, and Bernie Lunzer of The News Guild. Our first guest Steve Dettlebach talks about his career history from all the way back in law enforcement to being a Civil Rights Attorney and working at the Department of Justice. He talks about why he is running for Attorney General, corruption in politics, the ECOT scandal, the opioid crisis and hate crimes. Our second guest Bernie Lunzer talks a good deal on President Trump and his war on the press. He talks about how President Trump declaring the press the enemy is making people fear going to do their jobs because of how people have been treating members of the press lately and how it is causing some people to step away from the profession. Also, we talk about the NAFTA negotiations and what President Trump has to say about Canada’s involvement, tariffs, and exchange rates between the United States and Mexico in their trade deal.
